Stranded sperm whale rescued in Cagayan

APARRI, Cagayan: A sperm whale stranded at the beach of Naguilian village in Calayan Island, Cagayan was rescued and returned to sea on Thursday.

CONTRIBUTED PHOTO The Philippine Coast Guard-North Eastern Luzon responded to a report of a stranded whale in the coastal village and helped volunteers in rescuing the female whale at 10:30 a.m.The whale was measured at 1.62 meters long and found to have a wound on the pelvic area.The whale was released to its natural habitat after it was treated by Dr. Jo Marie Acebes, a veterinary doctor of a marine conservation group Balyena organization.
