Pan-regional OTT video streaming service and the Philippines' leading multimedia broadcaster have further strengthened their collaboration.
Shortly before March commenced, Viu started streaming what will be a total of 33 of GMA's most popular titles for binge-watching. With 2,969 episodes and over 1,400 hours of content to be made available on Viu during the year, this premium library of shows from the GMA catalog will be released every quarter, offering viewers a diverse and captivating selection to stream for free anytime, anywhere.
"We understand how passionate viewers are when it comes to their favorite program," said lawyer Annette Gozon-Valdes, GMA Network senior vice president for Programming, Talent Management, Worldwide, and Support Group and concurrent president and CEO of GMA Films. "Even when a series has already aired its finale, they still want to watch it repeatedly. At GMA Network, we are constantly exploring additional platforms, and our partnership with Viu Philippines allows audiences to re-watch or, better yet, enjoy our programs for the first time."
Viu Philippines Country Manager Vinchi Sy-Quia added, "We are delighted to have these popular shows from GMA on the Viu platform. This collaboration enables us to provide our growing audience with a wider selection of Filipino content and allows us to remain consistent in offering the best of premium Asian content to our users. We're excited for our Viu-ers to 'Enjoy the Viu' of their favorite Kapuso programs for free on our platform."
The first set of the chosen series, which dropped on Viu on February 26, comprises three titles — GMA's biggest "adventure-serye," "Lolong (Crocodile Whisperer)," starring Ruru Madrid; the network's first "suspenserye," "Widows' Web," headlined by top Kapuso female stars Carmina Villaroel, Ashley Ortega, Vaness Del Moral and Pauline Mendoza; and "First Yaya (The First Nanny)," GMA's top-rated romantic comedy series headlined by Gabby Concepcion and Sanya Lopez.
This collection of diverse and engaging GMA programs is just a taste of more proudly Philippine-made series coming to Viu this 2024.
The Viu app is available on App Store, Google Play and selected smart TVs, and on the web at www.viu.com.
