MANILA, Philippines: Chery Tiggo Crossovers went full blast and quickly dispatched Strong Group Athletics via sweep, 25-12, 25-17, 25-19, to earn the solo lead in the Premier Volleyball League (PVL) 2024 All-Filipino Conference at the Smart Araneta Coliseum on Saturday, February 24.
The Crossovers improved to 2-0 while the Athletics dropped to 0-2.
"Getting better every game, that's what we want. We execute good plays and I am happy to see that," said Chery Tiggo head coach Emilio "Kung Fu" Reyes Jr.
Opposite hitter Mylene Paat, who came off the bench, scored 10 points built on nine attacks and an ace.
Ara Galang added nine points for Chery Tiggo, while Czarina Carandang put up seven points.
Down by eight points in the third frame, the Strong Group Athletics woke up from the slump after pulling a 5-0 run, 22-18. But it was all too late as the Crossovers were inch away to seal the victory after a 2-1 rally, 24-19.
A costly service error committed by SGA's Nikkie Baldizanso handed the Chery Tiggo's victory, 25-19.
SGA's Justine Rebleza, Sheeka Espinosa, and Dolly Versoza all had eight points apiece.
