Communist Party leader, policeman killed in Bohol encounter

MANILA, Philippines: A ranking leader of the communist terrorist group in Central Visayas and a policeman were killed during an encounter in Bilar, Bohol, the military reported Friday.

Citing an initial report, Col. Louie Dama-ala, Philippine Army Public Affairs chief, identified the slain terrorist as Domingo Compoc also known as Eloy, Cobra, and Jing, and secretary of the defunct Bohol Party Committee.

The policeman was not identified.

The latest encounter took place at Sitio Matin-ao 2, Barangay Campagao, Bilar, Bohol at around 6:45 Friday morning.

Government forces have recovered three high-powered and two low-powered firearms at the site.
