MANILA, Philippines: Colder nights and mornings would likely be experienced in the coming days as the northeast monsoon or "amihan" is expected to intensify, the state-run weather agency said on Friday.
At present, the weather system is affecting Batanes and Cagayan where overcast skies with light rains will prevail, weather specialist Benison Estareja of the Philippine Atmospheric Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa) said.
The northeast monsoon is also bringing partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated light rains over Ilocos Region, Cordillera Administrative Region and the rest of Cagayan Valley, Estareja said.
"Based on Pagasa's data and analysis, there is likelihood of amihan intensifying in the coming days," the Pagasa forecaster said.
He also said that they have not monitored any tropical cyclone or low pressure area (LPA) forming or entering the Philippine Area of Responsibility (PAR) in the next three days.
Meanwhile, the easterlies along with localized thunderstorms, are affecting Metro Manila and the rest of the country where partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rain showers or thunderstorms will be experienced within the next 24 hours.
