A MAN who works as a janitor at SM City Baliwag was commended by the mall's management on Saturday, January 27, for returning the P104,800 he found in one of the comfort rooms.
The mall's management said the janitor, identified as John David Sulit, immediately surrendered the money wrapped in plastic at the customer relations service (CRS) office on Thursday, January 25.
Sulit said he found the money at the urinal's ledge while cleaning one of the male comfort rooms.
A few minutes after the janitor surrendered the money, the owner approached the mall's management, saying that he misplaced his money.
Upon verification, the money was immediately returned to its owner, identified as Ramil Manalastas of Barangay Mapaniqui, Candaba, Pampanga, who expressed his gratitude to Sulit and the entire CRS team for the recovery of his cash.
The SM City Baliwag management commended Sulit for his honesty and dedication to work.
The incident was not the first time SM personnel had returned valuables left by customers.
In June 2021, amid the Covid-19 pandemic, security guard Rodel Victorino of SM Center Pulilan also returned a wallet containing P46,798 he found while on duty.
