DTI okays price adjustments for coffee, salt

By Manila Times - 10 months ago

MANILA, Philippines: The Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) on Wednesday approved price adjustments for nine stock-keeping units (SKUs) for coffee and salt.

Trade Assistant Secretary Amanda Nograles told the reporters that price adjustments will be implemented on three types of coffee and six for salt because of the imported raw materials that are used in manufacturing them.

"For coffee, the SKUs with adjusted prices are coffee powder, coffee refills, and 3-in-1," Nograles said. Nograles said the price of salt increased by 4 percent.

An SKU is a number assigned by the retailer to products to keep track of their stock levels. Meanwhile, Trade Secretary Alfredo Pascual said the DTI was "actively discussing with manufacturers price adjustment notifications for 54 SKUs." Pascual also said that prices of 154 or 71 percent of the 217 SKUs listed in the suggested retail price (SRP) bulletin "will remain unchanged." The final SRP bulletin is set for release in March.
