US job openings rise in October, layoffs decrease

U.S. job openings rose slightly in October, while layoffs decreased, showing a slow but steady labor market. The Labor Department reported 7.744 million job openings, with hires falling and layoffs down to 1.633 million. The labor market was disrupted by hurricanes and strikes. Economists predict significant job growth in November with an expected unemployment rate increase to 4.2%.
