A Vietnamese court upheld the death penalty for property tycoon Truong My Lan in a fraud case involving $27 billion but indicated her sentence could be reduced to life imprisonment if she repays three-quarters of the stolen assets. Lan was accused of controlling Saigon Commercial Bank and caused significant financial losses to its investors.
