Japan's Prime Minister Fumio Kishida and his Cabinet have resigned to make way for Shigeru Ishiba, who is set to become the new Prime Minister. Ishiba, chosen as the Liberal Democratic Party's leader, plans to call a parliamentary election for October 27 to seek public approval for the new administration.
