Japan's meteorological agency issued a tsunami advisory for remote islands south of Tokyo following a magnitude 5.9 earthquake off the Izu Islands. Tsunami waves up to 1 meter could occur on the coasts of the Izu and Ogasawara island chains. No damage or injuries have been reported, but residents are advised to stay alert.
