Paul Mackenzie, a self-proclaimed Kenyan pastor, stands trial for terrorism and related charges after over 440 bodies, including children, were unearthed from shallow graves in Shakahola Forest. The victims were followers of Mackenzie, who allegedly convinced them to starve to death to "meet Jesus." Autopsies revealed many also died from strangulation and blunt force trauma. Mackenzie’s trial, alongside 94 co-defendants, has shocked Kenya and highlighted the country’s failure to regulate dangerous religious movements despite warnings.
