E.coli infection outbreak in the UK: Here's what you need to know about it

By Economic Times - 5 months ago
Ecoli Outbreak UK: Three UK suppliers have issued recalls for 60 types of pre-packed sandwiches, wraps, and salads due to concerns over E.coli contamination. This move follows reports of over 200 individuals in the UK being affected by E.coli in recent weeks, with 42% requiring hospitalization. The Food Standards Agency (FSA) emphasized that the recall is precautionary. E.coli, specifically the STEC O145 strain, is responsible for the outbreak, causing symptoms like abdominal cramps, bloody diarrhea, and vomiting. Prevention involves thorough handwashing, food preparation, and avoiding contact with others while symptomatic.
