At least 19 Jordanian and Iranian pilgrims have died during the hajj pilgrimage in Saudi Arabia due to extreme heat. The Jordanian foreign ministry confirmed 14 deaths from sunstroke, while the Iranian Red Crescent reported 5 deaths in Mecca and Medina. Saudi Arabia, where the hajj takes place, has implemented heat mitigation measures, including providing water and advice to pilgrims to protect themselves from the sun.
