French President Emmanuel Macron will use a two-day state visit by Chinese President Xi Jinping to France to urge China to help end the war in Ukraine. Macron seeks to persuade Xi to use his influence with Russia, with whom China claims neutrality in the conflict, to resolve the crisis. Macron will also discuss trade disputes, including issues with electric cars, cognac, and cosmetics, as well as global challenges like climate change and Middle East affairs. The European Commission president will also join part of the meetings to address broader EU concerns.
