Russian President Vladimir Putin, running as an independent candidate, cast his electronic vote in the presidential elections, marking the first time online voting has been available. More than 3.5 million people voted online on the first day of polling across Russia. Putin, if elected, will serve another six years, making it his fifth term in office. The election also includes candidates Vladislav Davankov, Leonid Slutsky, and Nikolay Kharitonov. Putin has served four terms as President since 2000.
