Samsung Electronics Chairman Lee Jae-yong has been acquitted by a South Korean court of stock price manipulation and accounting fraud charges related to a 2015 merger. The ruling could ease Lee's legal troubles, coming less than two years after he was pardoned for bribery charges. Prosecutors had sought a five-year jail term for Lee, but it is unclear if they will appeal the acquittal. Lee served 18 months in prison for bribery charges related to the 2015 merger and was released on parole in 2021.
