Canada's Foreign Interference Commission, set up to probe China's alleged involvement in influencing Canadian federal elections, wants to investigate alleged Indian interference as well. The commissioner has asked the Canadian government for documents related to the alleged Indian interference. This could further strain India-Canada relations, which deteriorated after Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau accused India of the murder of a Khalistani terrorist in Vancouver. Many see targeting India as a ploy by Trudeau to deflect attention from Chinese interference in favor of his Liberal Party. China is known to infiltrate parliaments in many developed countries.
