China's Foreign Ministry has declared the formal restoration of diplomatic relations with Nauru, a tiny Pacific island nation that had recently cut its ties with Taiwan earlier in the month. Nauru's decision came just two days following Taiwan's presidential election, leaving the self-governing island with only 12 remaining diplomatic allies.
