Agri exports down 3% in Q1

By Economic Times - 4 months ago
India experienced a 3% drop in Q1 agricultural exports amid the Red Sea crisis, higher freight costs, and China-US logistics issues. Products under APEDA felt the impact. Increased US tariffs on Chinese goods led to container shortages. Rajesh Agrawal noted declines in maize exports and rice export controls. The July 2023 ban on non-basmati white rice exports allowed for some humanitarian exemptions. A recovery in rice and cashew exports is expected once logistics improve, despite ongoing regional crises.
