Union minister Ashwini Choubey in Rajya Sabha revealed that over the past five years, the Central government has approved environmental clearance for over 80 percent of proposed "projects and activities" within the eco-sensitive zones across the country. Choubey also disclosed that during this period, the Standing Committee of the National Board for Wildlife (SCNBWL) has recommended a total of 689 proposals.
