AISTA projects India's sugar production for the 2023-24 season to be around 31.6 million tonnes, a four percent decrease from the previous season. The estimated net domestic sugar production excludes a sucrose diversion of 2 million tonnes for ethanol production. The availability of sugar in the country is estimated to be 37.3 million tonnes, higher than the estimated domestic consumption of 29 million tonnes.
