Firefighters needed 190,000 litres of water to douse a Tesla battery burning at 1,000 degrees Fahrenheit

A Tesla Semi's lithium-ion battery fire, caused by a crash, needed around 50,000 gallons of water to extinguish. The incident occurred near Interstate 80 at Emigrant Gap. The truck was not using Tesla's automated driving systems. The NTSB is investigating the crash and its implications for battery safety.
