The telecom regulator is urging the Ministry of Electronics and IT to address the rise in spam and phishing on OTT apps like WhatsApp and Telegram. Currently, these apps fall under MeitY's regulatory purview. Trai has implemented measures for SMS spam but seeks MeitY's help for OTT regulation.
