India could avoid new coal plants if battery-storage costs decrease by 15% annually, according to a report by Ember and TERI. The nation, which currently relies on coal for 75% of its electricity, could limit coal capacity to 2032 planned levels, supporting its net-zero emissions goal by 2070.
