From 2018-19 to 2022-23, Indian Railways' earnings from flexi fare, tatkal, and premium tatkal tickets comprised around 5% of total passenger services revenue. Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw, responding to MP John Brittas, clarified that full refunds are made for waitlisted tickets, except for clerkage charges, but cancellation revenue is not documented separately.
