India's inaugural bullet train project between Ahmedabad and Mumbai involved the construction of a 7-kilometer undersea tunnel beneath Thane Creek. This tunnel forms part of a 21-kilometer underground stretch. Large tunnel boring machines with 13.6-meter cutter heads were utilized. The project aims for completion by the end of 2028.
