Coal India, GAIL sign JV to set up unit to convert coal into synthetic natural gas

Coal India Ltd and GAIL (India) Ltd have agreed to establish a coal-to-synthetic natural gas plant in Raniganj, West Bengal, using surface coal gasification technology. The plant will have a capacity of 633.6 million Nm³ per hour and will use 1.9 million tonnes of coal.
