DTH, teleport company expect new policy to lower satellite costs

The Indian government’s new policy, effective April 2025, requires foreign satellite operators to establish local units to offer satellite capacity to Indian companies. This change is expected to reduce satellite capacity costs for Direct-to-Home (DTH) and teleport operators by allowing them to negotiate long-term contracts in Indian rupees rather than foreign currencies.
