A study by the University of California’s IECC found that due to rapid economic growth and extreme heat waves, India's electricity demand surged to 250 GW in May 2024. The report suggested that combining 50 GW of solar energy with 15-30 GW of energy storage could help India avoid significant evening and night power shortages by 2026.
