The Ministry of Commerce and Industry has issued an advisory to e-commerce companies, directing them to remove drinks like Bournvita from the category of ‘health drinks’ on their platforms. This follows an inquiry by the NCPCR, which found that Bournvita contains sugar levels exceeding acceptable limits. Earlier, the NCPCR urged the FSSAI to take action against companies misrepresenting powdered supplements as ‘health drinks’, as this violates food laws.
