Coal India Ltd and Bharat Heavy Electricals Ltd signed a joint venture agreement to establish an ammonium nitrate plant utilizing surface coal gasification (SCG) technology. The plant, slated to be located in Odisha’s Lakhanpur area under Coal India's subsidiary Mahanadi Coalfields Ltd, aims to initially produce 2000 tons of ammonium nitrate per day, as per the statement from the coal ministry.
