The Southern Railway plans to develop Villivakkam station into a terminal to ease congestion at Chennai Central. The General Manager, R N Singh, announced this during a press conference. The station is deemed suitable for the purpose, and a detailed project report is being prepared. The plan involves constructing pitlines and stabling lines at Villivakkam station.
