The Union Cabinet has approved a Rs 8,500 crore incentive scheme for coal gasification projects, aiming to reduce India's dependency on natural gas, methanol, ammonia, and other imports. The government aims to gasify 100 million tonnes of coal by 2030, utilizing the gasification process to produce syngas for power generation and methanol production.
