Germany has reported its first case of the new mpox variant clade 1b, detected last week. The Robert Koch Institute stated the infection occurred abroad and poses no increased risk to the country. Previously, clade 1b had mainly affected children in Africa, now spreading to countries like Burundi, Kenya, Rwanda, and Uganda. The WHO declared an international emergency in August.
