Lassa fever: A middle-aged Iowa resident who recently returned to US from West Africa is believed to have died from Lassa fever. Lassa fever, mostly found throughout Sub-Saharan Africa, puts 95 percent of pregnant women at risk of miscarriage. According to the World Health organisation, about 80% of people who become infected with Lassa virus have no symptoms.
