Brazil reaches $23 billion settlement with mining firms over 2015 environmental disaster

Brazil has settled with mining giants Vale and BHP over the 2015 dam collapse that caused widespread damage, killing 19. The companies will pay $23 billion over 20 years for compensation. More than 300,000 victims will receive payments, although a separate lawsuit in London seeks further reparations.
