The U.S. trade deficit fell significantly in August due to higher exports and lower imports. The trade gap decreased by 10.8% to $70.4 billion from July's $78.9 billion. Despite this improvement, trade has been a drag on economic growth for two straight quarters. Growth estimates for the third quarter are now projected as high as 3.2%.
