The Centre has approved forty projects worth Rs 3,295 crore to develop lesser-known destinations into iconic sites across 23 states. This initiative aims to distribute tourists more evenly, promote local economies, and ensure sustainable growth in tourism. The states have two years to complete the projects, with funds to be released before March 2026.
