3 new railway corridors will solve problem of passenger wait list: Railway Minister

By Economic Times - 10 months ago
Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw stated that the three multi-modal economic corridors announced in India's interim budget will address the problem of passenger ticket waitlists. The budget for 2024-25 includes three major economic railway corridor programs: energy, mineral, and cement corridors; port connectivity corridors; and high-traffic density corridors. Vaishnaw mentioned that laying 40,000 km of rail tracks as part of these corridors would enhance network capacity, eliminating the issue of ticket waitlists by around 2030-31. The corridors aim to boost network capacity and create additional rail infrastructure, providing efficient, cost-effective, and sustainable transportation.
